VRL (CSN) Series Technical Data
The VRL series (CSN) was designed especially for palm wax application. The series is designed primarily for container candles with higher viscosity blends, typically those with high percentages of vegetable wax. The series performs well with solid colors and high fragrance loads of up to 10%. The coreless wick construction combines threads made of cotton with other natural filaments for extra stability. All the threads are white and provide an excellent alternative to wicks containing brown paper filaments, where a more uniform appearance is required.
ECO Series Technical Data
The ECO series is a group of specialty flat-wicks made with unique paper threads and treated with the ECO chemical treatment. Eco wicks are recommended for container candles and are generally used in natural wax blends containing less than 30% paraffin. The ECO series offers you self-trimming wick position that minimizes carbon (mushrooming).
FW Series with “SU” Treatment Technical Data
The FD series is a classic flat-braided range of wicks primarily for taper and dinner candles – although the larger wicks in the series have also proved highly successful in pillar candles. The “SU” treatment for mainly paraffin wax, although it can also be used in blends containing up to 30 % stearic acid and/or combinations of paraffin and vegetable wax.
HZL Series Technical Data
The HZL series is a group of standard flat-wicks with tension threads. The HZL series is great for compressed pillar and votive candles. Primary use is in the extrusion process. The HZL series is designed for containers and free standing candles made primarily of paraffin wax. In addition, the series gives high performance with normal fragrance loads and stronger color concentrations.
LX Series Technical Data
The LX series is designed for containers and free standing candles made primarily of paraffin wax but also performs well in blends containing vegetable wax. In addition, the series gives high performance with normal fragrance loads and color concentrations. The LX series is a group of flat-wicks with tension threads which maintains a slight curl when burning. The LX series is a great wick for containers and pillars, since a consistent flame keeps the heat in the center of the candle, helping to insure a very stable and consistent flame.
P Series Technical Data
The P series is designed for grave lights / novena candles and is often used in paraffin based container candles. P wicks are round braided with a paper core for extra stability and with additional tension threads allowing the wick to curl slightly during burning, facilitating self-trimming. P wicks are directional which means that fuel flows more easily in one direction. The round braided construction in conjunction with a particularly strong chemical treatment enables the wick to burn continuously for the number of days required in the grave light / novena setting.
R Series Technical Data
The R series is a specially braided “high yield” flat wick for taper and dinner candles made of paraffin wax. The unique braiding construction provides a thinner wick, which can perform the same as a thicker and heavier flat wick. Whereas a flat wick with a yield of approx. 496 yds/lb may be the normal choice for a standard dinner candle, often an R wick with a yield of over 892 yds/lb can be used instead. The high yield also allows winding more wick onto the spools which in turn allows the candle manufacturer to run his machines up to 80 % longer, before having to re-wick.
RD Series Technical Data
The RD series is a group of standard round wicks without a core. The RD series is great for pure beeswax, beeswax blends and natural wax.
RRD Series Technical Data
The RRD NST 2 series is mainly used in vegetable wax and gel materials. The series is a cotton core, round braided range of wicks with extra tension threads. The tension threads allow the wick to curl slightly during burning to enable self-trimming to take place. RRD wicks are directional which means that fuel flows more easily in one direction.
The “NST 2” in the wick name refers to the strong chemical treatment, designed to burn well in solid color and highly fragranced applications.
TL Series Technical Data
The TL series is a group of specialty flat wicks with tension threads. All are tightly braided and designed for use in tea-lights and votive candles. The TL series burns with a slight curl, which helps to minimize or eliminate carbon buildup (mushrooming), reduce smoking, and provide a ‘self-trimming’ effect, which creates a very stable and consistent flame.
V Series Technical Data
The V Series is a unique innovation for particularly complicated tea light, votive, pillar and container systems. Where other wicks may fail, the V wick can often provide the solution. The secret lies in metalized threads integrated into the coreless thread construction. The metalized threads are not wire, but ring-spun cotton threads coated with a metal powder applied in a process specific to WEDO. These threads act as a catalyst, helping to break down complicated molecules during the combustion process. This can help reduce or eliminate the carbon deposit formation or wick disintegration often encountered in difficult blend/color/fragrance combinations. This wick series has proved successful in a wide variety of candle materials such as paraffin, vegetable wax and stearic acid.
The V series is the only group of WEDO wicks that contains any metal. The V series is great for container candles and votives that are heavily colored and scented. The Consumer Product Safety Commission defines a lead cored wick to be one containing greater than .06% lead by weight in the metal. The V Series at 0.00003% by weight is substantially below the standard.
